Why you need a well-trained pet?
An untrained dog can be a real nuisance. He can be a hazard to himself, his owner, other people and other animals. Having an undisciplined pet can result in:
1. Visitors no longer wanting to visit you for fear of being jumped on or covered with hair and slobber.
2. Injury to you at home or on walks due to your dog's barging into you, pulling you along, or being aggressive.
3. Injury to someone else caused by your unleashed dog ignoring your recall commands, attacking or chasing others, or by the dog running into the street being hurt or killed by a car.
4. Legal action against you for damage caused by your dog.
5. Damage to your home.
6. Stress for you as well as for your dog.
My philosophy regarding dog training is simple. My ultimate goal is to have you end up with a happy, obedient, well-rounded dog that is a valued addition to your family.
Why One on One training?
I customize each and every session to fit your lifestyle, your pets personality, and your needs.
I teach you on why dogs do what they do, how they interact with humans, other dogs, other pets, and also how dogs view the world. Why? Well, it's like learning a different language. Once we understand their language we can then better communicate with them. Thus, a happier home.
I believe in teaching dogs with praise, not fear or pain.
Dogs want to please us. They just need to be taught how.
I use one method at a time. What this means is that in slowly progressing through a step-by-step process the dog can and will learn by praise and reward.
Setting boundaries and keeping them clear and consistent is extremely important.
I do not use pinch/prong collars or any shocking devices. I consider them inhumane and unnecessary. There are many other options that work much better, safer and quicker.
I do not use any form of abuse when training and I will not work with people who abuse their dogs!
FAQs
What type of training methods are used? I use simple gentle training by reward and praise, hand signals, voice command and gentle physical handling. Pet Parents are educated in all aspects of pet care, pet handling, do's and don'ts, understanding dog body language, why dogs do what they do, pet health, nutrition, safety, behavior and liability issues. I do not use any harsh accessories or tools in training. I may use a gentle leader or harness. Clicker training available.
Is dog training necessary? Yes! Dogs are like kids. They need to know right from wrong, what is acceptable, manners, and behaving in a civilized manner. Basically, it's the pet parents that are being trained and then teaching their dogs what they need to know and how their dog should behave.
Where do we meet? Private training sessions are held in the comfort of your home where training takes place in a familiar environment. No disruptions so more is accomplished with all your questions answered and understood.
